The Programmable Assembly Lab (Gang Research Group) is seeking an Associate Research Scientist (ARS) with experimental training in colloids, nanoparticles, and polymer physics, self-assembly, DNA nanotechnology, or a related field, to take part in developing the methods for inverse design of nanomaterials. The lab's broad interest is to understand and engineer interactions for controlling organized nanomaterials, and to assemble DNA and nanoparticles into functional materials with a wide range of applications, from optics to mechanics. Candidates should have a strong affinity for engineering nanomaterials via biomolecular interactions, the ability to develop projects independently, and a desire for high-risk, high-reward nanomaterial research. The lab is located at the Columbia Morningside Campus, surrounded by a highly dynamic and multidisciplinary research environment, which provides a number of meaningful career development opportunities. Candidates from underrepresented backgrounds in science and academia are strongly encouraged to apply or inquire more information about our research.
PhD in chemistry, chemical engineering, physics, material science, or a related field, with a working knowledge of soft matter systems, nanoparticles, DNA nanotechnology, small-angle x-ray scattering, and electron microscopy methods. Candidates with fewer than 4 years of postdoctoral experience will be considered for a postdoctoral scholar position.
Applicants should submit:
1. CV
2. Brief research statement
3. Names and contact information for 2?3 references
