Manages and oversees direction of the Toolroom and Engineering business and staff by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Manage toolroom and engineering staff.
Determine customer mold and tooling requirements.
Quote tooling.
Manage DFM (design for manufacture).
Oversee design and mold building on site and outsourced.
Debug tooling for production.
Find and secure potential customers.
Visit current customers to develop lasting relationships.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage approximately five staff.
Must be able to effectively handle interpersonal communication between peers and subordinates with strong personalities.
Responsible for the overall directions, coordination, and evaluation of this department.
Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
Additional responsibilities include interviewing and training, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining employees with the assistance of HR, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
BS in Mechanical Engineering, related field, or equivalent experience.
10-15 years of proven tooling and design experience.
5+ years leading a team.
Fluency with Solid Works, Split Works, Power Mill, Feature Cam or similar 3D CAD tools and FEA software.
Strong working knowledge of manufacturing and tooling techniques/capabilities (CNC machining, injection molding, mold design, etc).
Experience in interactions with customers and vendors to develop business relationships.
