SUMMARY

Manages and oversees direction of the Toolroom and Engineering business and staff by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Manage toolroom and engineering staff.
• Determine customer mold and tooling requirements.
• Quote tooling.
• Manage DFM (design for manufacture).
• Oversee design and mold building on site and outsourced.
• Debug tooling for production.
• Find and secure potential customers.
• Visit current customers to develop lasting relationships.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage approximately five staff.
• Must be able to effectively handle interpersonal communication between peers and subordinates with strong personalities.
• Responsible for the overall directions, coordination, and evaluation of this department.
• Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
• Additional responsibilities include interviewing and training, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining employees with the assistance of HR, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• BS in Mechanical Engineering, related field, or equivalent experience.
• 10-15 years of proven tooling and design experience.
• 5+ years leading a team.
• Fluency with Solid Works, Split Works, Power Mill, Feature Cam or similar 3D CAD tools and FEA software.
• Strong working knowledge of manufacturing and tooling techniques/capabilities (CNC machining, injection molding, mold design, etc).
• Experience in interactions with customers and vendors to develop business relationships.
