As part of the local Operations Group, the Process Control & Data Analytics Engineer will be responsible for the programming, maintenance and upgrading of the plant process control systems and for the development of projects that require advanced data analysis to implement solutions to resolve operations challenges and to capture optimization opportunities.

Job Responsibilities

• Design, program and implement process control modifications for projects development or operating/optimization requirements
• Design and implement advanced process control techniques
• Maintain the process control system and documentation
• Provide expertise and support to plant instrument technician
• Identify process control software, hardware and field instrument improvements
• Provide education training and support for site process control system users
• Assist in commissioning and troubleshooting of software and instruments
• Develop and communicate periodically to the site management team the main KPIs of the control system to forecast investment needs
• Manage local data analytics projects
• Conduct diagnostics to identify data analytics use case opportunities
• Drive digital mindset and implement new technology within the site
• Support local IT needs and interface with corporate IT

• Bachelors degree (or 5 years demonstrated industry experience) in engineering, control systems or computer science
• Minimum 2 years prior experience in process control at manufacturing plants
• Demonstrated experience in PLC programming, tuning of control loops, HMI development
• Demonstrated experience in real time modifications without impacting the process
• Demonstrated experience in Data Analytics in process modeling and/or optimization
• Proficient in programming fundamentals and information technology skills (networking, futureproofing)
• Project Management skills (planning, tracking, KPI development)
• Planning, organizational skills, and technical writing ability
• Effective communication, problem-solving and creative thinking skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in chemical, electrical or automation engineering and/or background in computer science
• Chemical manufacturing experience (specialty, petrochemical)
• Experience with PLCs and DCS, control system migration and advanced process control techniques
• Experience in working with large datasets, relational databases and machine learning model programming
