JOB TITLE: Injection Molding Engineer JOB LOCATION: Middleboro, MA REPORTS TO: Sr. Director, Project Integration SCOPE OF THE ROLE Responsible for the development and execution of injection molding projects, and process validation of new molded products. Collaborates on project teams to develop high quality, high reliability and highly manufacturable injection molding products. Utilizes DRM/COS/Lean principles to develop creative, thorough and practical technical solutions. Develops and implements validation protocols (IQ/OQ/PQ) that comply with FDA regulations. Conducts root cause analysis of product quality issues. The person in this role is expected to make data driven decisions with a keen attention to detail and exercise independent judgment in developing standards, techniques and evaluation of results. This person will lead projects and interact directly with customers, Sales, Production, QA, and Engineering personnel in order to solve problems. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & REQUIRED ABILITIES • Process development regarding the forming of microfluidic parts • Technical and practical support of R&D projects, from the first prototypes to the start of production • Technical support for replacement, expansion and optimization tasks • Support of customer inquiries in technical, cost and scheduling matters together with other departments • Creation of specification documents • Internal project management • Support of validation and qualification activities • Direct the specification, fabrication, and implementation of tooling and production aids • Use of analytical tools such as Root Cause/ RISK analysis/investigation • Identify, develop, and implement automation and capital equipment upgrades as needed • Drive tooling standardization and process control efforts QUALIFICATIONS • Study or dual study (FH/Uni) in the field of plastics technology, mechanical engineering with focus on process engineering or similar. Alternatively relevant work experience in this field • Several years of professional experience in a similar function • Process engineering know-how, very good knowledge of injection molding • Knowledge of relevant rules and regulations such as GMP • Experience in process development and technical documentation • Excellent quality awareness as well as careful, independent and responsible work • Excellent communication and organization skills • Experience in statistical analysis and statistical process control PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS • M.S. in Plastics or Mechanical Engineering Degree • Six Sigma Black Belt • 7+ years of experience in molding, mold-making and tooling in manufacturing environment • 7+ years of experience in diverse technical, materials, manufacturing and product design • Recent experience with medical device development, in an FDA regulated (21 CFR 820) and/or ISO 13485 environment • Knowledge of micro injection molding in medical technology IDEX HEALTH & SCIENCE, LLC IDEX Health & Science is the global leader in life science fluidics, microfluidics, and optics, offering a three-fold advantage to customers by bringing optofluidic paths to life with strategic partnerships, solutions, and expertise.
