POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE , Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research -Irvine Lab , to join a dynamic team of researchers in the laboratory of Darrell Irvine . The Irvine Lab seeks to engineer immunity to cancer and infectious disease through a fusion of immunology with biotechnology and materials chemistry, creating new therapies based on the controlled modulation of the immune system. The lab's work toward this goal divides into three complementary themes, all focused on adapting engineering principles to enhance the ability of the immune system to prevent and treat human disease. As part of ongoing NIH-funded research, the initial focus will be on leading efforts related to novel vaccine technologies, particularly focused on HIV and fundamental vaccine efforts in collaboration with the Scripps Consortium for HIV/AIDS Vaccine Development. Responsibilities will include the preparation of novel vaccine compositions and vaccine adjuvants, conducting in vitro and in vivo studies of novel vaccine formulations in mouse models, and analysis of immunological mechanisms of action of new vaccines.
Job Requirements REQUIRED : Ph.D. in immunology or related area; experience with murine animal models; excellent organizational, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills; meticulous attention to detail; ability to work independently and as part of a team; practiced documentation and record-keeping skills; knowledge of standard laboratory procedures/protocols; and a demonstrated commitment to exceeding quality standards, providing exceptional services, producing accurate and high-quality work, and following safety procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
