What You'll Be Doing - As the Maintenance Supervisor, you will supervise the activities of a crew of 15-25 Union maintenance mechanics and provide oversight to outside contractors where needed. You will also schedule resources (equipment, material and human resources) in order to accomplish the work in a safe, timely, quality concious, efficient & cost effective manner.
Provides leadership and oversight to a crew of 15 - 25 unionized maintenance mechanics within a 24 hr/7 day manufacturing environment.
Requisitions, schedules and provides field oversight of outside contractors and suppliers of maintenance services performing work at the site.
Handles emergency schedule breakers by effectively and efficiently assigning work within the available resources.
Utilizes SAP Plant Maintenance effectively to manage work orders, the work order backlog and closes work orders in a timely manner.
Collaborates with the Maintenance Planner, Maintenance Coordinator and Reliability Engineer to ensure work orders and resources are prioritized to meet the needs of the site.
Provides primary input to preparing the maintenance budget, and controls spending through appropriate tracking, forecasting, and adjustments.
Develops the equipment maintenance knowledge and decision making capability of the work crew.
Ensures alignment of the employee's work and behaviors with the Vision, Values & Goals of the organization.
Prepares, communicates, and maintains written records of employee performance including coaching, performance counseling & discipline as well as recognition of exceptional performance.
Provides proper documentation and administration of employee time & attendance, disability, worker's compensation, family medical leave, etc.
Handles small Maintenance Projects through to successful completion. This may include scheduling and coordination of both internal and external resources.
Facilitates BASF-sponsored safety awareness & training initiatives (confined space entry, lock-out tag-out, hot works, line break as well as other structured safety programs). Participate in activities to promote and improve site process safety and required.
Manages activities within the negotiated union contract. Liaison with Human Resources and other supervisors to ensure consistency. Develop and maintain good relationships with hourly employees.
Troubleshoots quality and process problems in collaboration with production supervisors, production engineers, process engineers, quality engineers, and others to ensure that all aspects of equipment operation and maintenance are managed.
Works in conjunction with the Site Reliability Engineer to maintain and improve plant reliability through identifying/correcting bad actors, conducting root cause failure analyses, meeting mechanical integrity requirements and implementing preventive/predictive maintenance programs.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
Shine With Colors & Effects! Do You Have What It Takes?
An undergraduate degree in mechanical or electrical engineering and 5 - 7 years of supervisory experience (preferably in an industrial environment) is desired.
The successful non-degreed candidate will have at least 7- 10 years of supervisory experience in an industrial maintenance environment.
Experience in a unionized manufacturing environment is desired.
Competencies should include strong leadership and interpersonal skills, analytical thinking, communication, customer focus, entrepreneurial acting/change agent and coaching.
General knowledge of rotating and stationary equipment repair, construction and installation techniques.
