Using the latest technology and material science, Masonite designs, develops and manufactures doors that do more.
The Product Engineer conducts Product Engineering tasks (material selection, construction designs and process assessment) of composite, wood and plastic constructions for doors and door systems incl. electro-mechanical components under consideration of process capabilities (new or existing), costing, application requirements, all codes and compliance requirements, and performance testing requirements either for new designs or during the refinement and evaluation of existing designs. Collaborates with all other functions within the Product Engineering Team and other Masonite functions as applicable. Coordinates product testing, prototyping and qualification for new products, modified products and validation of manufacturing process optimization initiatives.
Evaluation, refinement and qualification of new product designs and materials from a product engineering perspective (technical design, material selection, product performance, process fit, testing, prototyping) as determined through the NPI stage gate process incl. subproject leadership for accountable deliverables.
Evaluation, refinement and (re-)qualification of existing product designs and materials from a product engineering perspective (technical design, material selection, product performance, process fit, testing, prototyping)
Keeps on top of technology development in related Engineering fields.
Craft engineering documentation (specifications, drawings, test reports) and manage all tasks leading up to a published and issued engineering documentation
Contribute to the Engineering Change Process for assigned product category.
Other duties as assigned.
