Job Summary:

Lead the development of innovative exterior door constructions with expertise in raw material conversion that provides competitive advantages in exterior door performance.  Serve as a subject matter expert for these technologies.  Provide ongoing business support for cost optimization projects, quality improvement, and resolving process issues in operations.

Job Responsibilities:

• Lead development of innovative exterior door construction processes for residential applications, with a focus on raw material conversion including automated -door lay-up, composite molding, and foaming processes.
• Collaborate with the Product Development Team and Manufacturing Team to develop/improve product and processes, scale-up, plant optimization, and future plant design.
• Lead in a manufacturing environment with a high degree of product and process complexity.
• Drive continuous improvement and provide leadership in utilizing various analysis tools.
• Supports scale-up of new equipment and technology in manufacturing plants, including the development of standard operating procedures, technical training of operators, and scale-up to meet project objectives.
• Responsible for initial scoping of new equipment, requirements generation (defining key metrics for performance), developing experimental designs, running experiments/trials, performing advance statistical analysis of the data (analyzing results), formulating recommendations, reporting results (technical documents and technical presentations).
• Drive action plans to deliver product technical deliverables through concept validation, design validation, and process validation following Stage-Gate Development Process.
• Conducts regular design, quality, cost, manufacturability, and safety reviews with the project team and support functions.
• Provide support to resolve product quality issues and complex manufacturing problems in a timely fashion.
• Stay abreast of technology development in operational processes for door construction.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

• BS in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Material Science is preferred
• Master’s Degree in a related field a plus
• At least 5 years of experience in material processing with some experience in material lay-up and process development.
