Come be a part of the Mechanical Instrumentation Shop in Biomedical Engineering!
We design, fabricate, produce, and maintain a full range of products and devices to support MSKCCs advanced treatment of cancer. We support a wide array of clinical and research services throughout the hospital. This includes patient-specific treatment devices, surgical instruments, support machinery, experimental setups, calibration equipment, radiation shielding, therapeutic hardware, and many more applications.
We consist of a group of engineers, machinists/fabricators and technicians with a full suite of mechanical engineering capabilities and on-site production. The facilities include a machine shop (CNC and manual mills, lathes etc), hand-fabrication tools and a 3D-printing lab.
The CNC Specialist will be primarily running CNC operations in the Instrumentation Shop. You will also contribute to the design and implementation of the devices we produce.
Additionally, you train and serve as a contributing member of our clinical operations in the Block Shop and Foam Immobilization Shop. These shops are part of the Mechanical Instrumentation group and produce patient-specific treatment devices for radiation therapy. This will include fabricating custom-made radiation shields and patient immobilization devices.
Associate Degree required. 10 years of relevant experience.
Experience in CNC processes, familiarity with 5-axis milling, CAD/CAM, creating toolpaths etc.
General fabrication and repair skills are a plus (metal, plastic, wood, composites). The primary role will be in fabrication, we are a small team and welcome input on the design side as we aim to work together towards the best solutions. Design and/or engineering qualifications are not required.
Applicants with design/engineering experience are also welcome and will be able to contribute to these efforts or advance their skills in this field.
