Associate or Full Specialist- Davis Lab The Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics is now recruiting an Associate or Full Specialist. The job responsibilities will include: This individual will be responsible for experiments that explore the interface of adaptive homeostatic plasticity and models of neuronal disease, effectively translating ongoing gene discovery work in the fruit fly to disease models in the rodent central and peripheral nervous systems. The individual will have responsibilities that include designing and executing a diversity of experiments ranging from electrophysiology to quantitative neuroanatomical assessment of neuronal and neural circuit integrity. A key element of the position is the ability to design and engineer molecular reagents for use in experiments, to be tested functionally and biochemically in both fruit fly and rodent systems. Required Qualifications: • Specialist appointed at the Associate rank must possess a master’s degree (or equivalent degree) or five to ten years of research experience. • Specialist appointed at the Full rank must possess a terminal degree (or equivalent degree) or ten or more years of research experience. • Neuroscience research with expertise in the following techniques and systems: - Mouse primary neuron culture
- Mouse in vivo electrophysiology
- Mouse genetics and husbandry
- Mouse advanced quantitative imaging
- Molecular biology and protein engineering
- Protein biochemistry
- Programming skills
- Advanced writing skills
- Drosophila husbandry, genetics and neurobiological research experience
