Field of Research this position is engaged in: 3D medical modelling for presurgical planning
Purpose of the proposed project: Carry out a research program investigating 3D printed anatomical medical models.
RESPONSIBILITIES: - Interface with surgeons, radiologists, and other clinical staff to develop project requirements• - Segment medical image data (CT, MRI, etc.) to CAD - Modify anatomy and create structures in CAD, mesh tools, and other modelling software - Run and maintain the 3d printing equipment required for supporting the medical 3d printing program - Help advance the existing medical 3d printing workflow to a low-level production process with the appropriate quality controls. - Work with personnel to develop new applications in medical 3D printing)
REQUIREMENTS: •Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a medical field with a strong technical background and at least 2 years technical or medical work experience •Experience producing 3D printed parts •Experience with CAD, meshing, and other modelling software •Demonstrated communication and organization skills •Able to work independently and as part of a team •Advanced understanding of polymer 3D Printers: FDM, powder bed, and polyjet printing •Medical image segmentation •Understanding of anatomy •Understanding of multiple different clinical / surgical procedures •Principles of image acquisition for use with 3D printing •Biocompatibility and sterilization requirements for medical devices •Experience in health care / medical device environment
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
