You could be the highly motivated individual to be part of our diverse team! You will serve as a subject matter expert on complex electronic device applications in long life, high reliability electronics subjected to extreme environments. This role provides the opportunity to work on challenging engineering problems in a fast-paced team environment with extensive cross-organizational and multi-disciplinary teaming.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
Conduct state-of-the-art analog circuit simulations on large multi-node computational platforms to characterize circuit performance and determine circuit sensitivities, uncertainty quantifications, and margins in extreme environments using calibrated models
Develop advanced, large-scale electrical system analysis capabilities and advance state-of-the-art capabilities in circuit analysis
Develop test methods and modeling for predicting the performance and survival of electronics in radiation environments
Perform device characterization including static & pulsed I-V, C-V, CW & pulsed bias S-Parameter, load/source-pull, TOI, and noise measurements
Analyze parametric test data, collect and analyze modeling device data, and extract device models
Develop advanced device model formulations and model extraction and calibration algorithms
Department 1356 is a multidisciplinary research and development group supporting NNSA Defense and Work for Other (WFO) programs. Bachelor’s and Master’s in Electrical Engineering or relevant STEM discipline plus two years’ relevant experience; or Bachelor’s and PhD in Electrical Engineering or relevant STEM discipline
Knowledge, by way of training and/or experience, of network theory, analog circuit simulation and/or design
Knowledge, by way of training and/or experience, of the physics and construction of semiconductor devices
Experience using statistical data analysis tools such as MatLab, JMP or Excel
Experience with scripting languages in a Linux environment
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoE Q clearance
Good communication skills as evidenced by a history of publication of results in peer-reviewed journals and external presentations at appropriate scientific conferences
Lumped element equivalent-circuit models for high-frequency transistor devices
Non-linear compact model parameter extraction and validation techniques
Model parameter calibration techniques
Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
