As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will work directly as a member of the R&D team, applying mechanical expertise to implement truly novel solutions to medical device challenges. You will have a strong background in product development. Work closely with the other design and engineering disciplines to ensure a cohesive system design. Your responsibilities will focus on launching new products into production and sustaining existing products.
Write and review mechanical requirements to determine the practicality and feasibility relative to performance, cost, and schedule.
Coordinate with engineers and designers to establish basic design approach.
Select mechanical components, create error-free 3D CAD models and 2D drawings for manufacture; generate assembly drawings and bills of materials.
Design and build prototypes for testing, proof-of-concept, mock-ups, and functional appearance models.
Interface with outside resources such as prototype houses and contract manufacturers.
Liaison between Pittsburgh R&D and Tobii China Operations team.
Assist the R&D and Operations teams with generating Engineering Change Orders, (ECO)s, and processing ECOs to release items into production.

Position Type/Expected Hours
This is a full-time position. Hours of work are flexible and may vary, but core office times are 10 AM to 2 PM.
This is primarily an in-office job with 10% International Travel.

BA/BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field
5 + years of experience with Solidworks
Strong 3D surfacing skills with Solidworks.
Administer Solidworks products including SolidWorks PDM
Experience detailing and documenting complex electro-mechanical designs.
Knowledge of design for manufacturability, assembly, and automation.
Experience introducing new products into a production environment.
Excellent hands-on mechanical aptitude and knowledge of mechanisms.
Knowledge of injection molded process and how to design for injection molding.
Experience with the safe and effective operation and maintenance of 3D printers.
Preferred Education and Experience
Experience with low volume production processes
Knowledge of DFMEA and statistical tolerance analysis
Experience importing Altium files into SolidWorks
