Under minimal supervision the Maintenance Engineer A (Plumber) is responsible for Journeyman A level plumbing work including construction, repair and installation of various plumbing systems, equipment and fixtures.
Installs, repairs, and maintains plumbing systems which include water supply piping, drain piping and vent lines.
Installs, repairs, and maintains process piping systems and associated equipment.
Installs, repairs, maintains, and tests back flow preventers.
Installs and repairs reverse osmosis and distilled water piping.
Installs, repairs, and maintains building fire sprinkler systems.
Maintains and tests fire lines and standpipes.
Estimates time, materials, and equipment required for assigned jobs; maintains records of work performed and parts used.
Other duties as assigned.
Must be available and capable of responding to irregularities during evenings and weekends ensuring 24 hour, 7 day per week coverage.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Valid City of Chicago Plumbing License.
Valid Illinois CCCD License.
High School diploma, GED or equivalent combination of educational training and experience from which comparable skills can be acquired.
Training and/or developmental experience equivalent to full apprenticeship in plumbing with a minimum of four years relevant and related work experience.
Knowledge of the tools, instruments, methods and standard trade/safety practices.
Must be able to pour lead joints and work with polypropylene and glass pipe.
Excellent knowledge of plumbing codes.
Successfully uses multiple software program independently. Software may include Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook, webmail and Peoplesoft.
Proficiency with mobile devices including iOS.
