The Engineering Supervisor is a department leader who is responsible for all technical product development. The ideal candidate is passionate about the automotive aftermarket, excels in an environment with great autonomy, and is highly organized. This is a hands on role where you will design and test new products while leading a team of product designers, technicians and machinists.
Manage and provide technical leadership for the R&D group, machine shop, and project management functions in new product design and development, sustaining engineering, manufacturing engineering, and manufacturing machine maintenance.
Support the product development process and be a strong proponent of continuous process improvement.
Lead design activities. Provide technical expertise pertaining to the design and development of new products in alignment with applicable internal procedures and external regulations and standards. Reviews drawings.
Maintain project status charts and leads regular project status meetings.
Provide mentorship to a team with highly varied skillsets.
Participate in formulating and administering department policies. Develop long-range goals and objectives.
Maintain compliance with Quality System procedures and company policies.
Bachelors’ of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited college or university.
10+ years of relevant experience as a design engineer.
Strong Manufacturing experience.
5+ years leading engineering teams.
Strong background and experience in automotive aftermarket preferred.
Training and skill in CAD, preferably Autodesk Inventor, both as a user and as an administrator.
Knowledge in a variety of machining/manufacturing processes and designing for manufacturability. (e.g. polymer molding, CNC machining, laser cutting, robotic welding, brake forming, fastening systems, and specification of heat treatment and coatings).
Demonstrated capability in leading engineering personnel.
Successful collaboration with interfacing departments.
Highly effective problem solving using root cause analysis.
Proficiency using Microsoft Office products - Word and Excel.
Excellent verbal and written communication with both internal and external customers.
This is a direct hire, full time, salary position with health and dental insurance benefits. No relocation package is available. Only candidates residing within 50 miles of San Clemente, CA will be considered. Candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship, now or in the future.
