Power Distribution Engineer (1804477) – Port Arthur, TX

We are seeking a professional like you to support site maintenance execution at our Port Arthur, TX facility. In this role, you will provide oversight for performance and continuous improvement activities related to electrical power distribution for the site. You will also provide technical expertise and consulting to the users of the services within BASF Corporation.

Formula for Success
As a role model, you will lead the site Electrical Safety Program by maintaining the electrical system arc flash study, providing technical guidance on electrical safe work practices, and providing personnel with training on electrical safety. Additionally, you will manage and develop the electrical work list and work plan and oversee the implementation of electrical work during turnarounds.
Leveraging your education in Electrical Engineering and your professional work experience in a refining, petrochemical, and/or chemical plant, you will support capital projects by supplying engineering expertise in the scope development, specification, design, and construction of capital projects to insure electrical systems operate reliably and are in accordance with plant design requirements as well as regulatory and BASF standards.
Your analytical skills will be critical as you provide support with technical bid analyses and bonus/malus reviews. You will also conduct criticality analysis, make spare parts recommendations and process inventory verification.
Utilizing your experience in design, specification, and the procurement of electrical equipment and systems, you will specify electrical equipment such as motors, starters, motor control centers, switchgear, relays, generators, substations, buses, transformers, and other industrial electrical equipment.
Demonstrating your troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, you will provide troubleshooting expertise to assist Maintenance and Operations during incidents involving electrical equipment failures and major electrical system disturbances. You will then participate in failure analysis and causal investigation of electrical failures or incidents. Additionally, you will utilize your experience with low and medium voltage power distribution systems and equipment to provide technical support for electrical equipment outages and repairs.
Your organizational skills will be a valued asset as you maintain a model of the site's electrical power distribution system and develop and complete power system studies including coordination, incident energy and short circuit. You will also be tasked with tracking KPI's and other metrics related to electrical equipment performance.
Driving strategic decisions for the business, you will develop and implement long-range plans for electrical infrastructure needs.
Successfully collaborating across the organization, you will participate in the Bad Actor program and handle assigned action items, contribute to the RBM process and predictive / preventive maintenance initiatives, participate on COE teams and act as the site expert on electrical equipment, and work with Global teams for rotating equipment information exchanges.
