The Functional Safety & Process Technology Manager will be based in Farmington Hills, MI. The Flex Automotive Functional Safety & Process Technology Manager will be responsible in ensuring the ISO-26262 standards are met for all Automotive products as required. This may include training and coordinating with the Flex Automotive Design Center leads to ensure the Functional Safety culture is front and center. This person will work with all Flex Automotive products / projects and vectors for i.e.: Autonomous, Connected, Electrified and Smart vehicles which could include White Box projects. The Automotive Functional Safety & Process Technology Manager will also provide the Flex Automotive Division direction and assessments regarding the Functional Safety deliverable status through FAPLC gate reviews. This person will also ensure process consistency amongst all pillars (Autonomous, Connected, Electrified and Smart) in addition to assisting with benchmarking activities with an impact on OP improvement actions and revenue growth.

Here is a glimpse of what you’ll do:
Manager ensures the requirements to meet Functional safety are met within the Automotive Segment
Includes Quality, QMS, and Warranty.
Lead across all functions; Engineering, Purchasing, Operations, Legal, Program Management, and Business Development to ensure Functional Safety is adhered to and is part of the culture of the organization.
Evaluation of the functional Safety requirements ensuring continuous improvement of the functional safety process.
Promote Safety management culture that encompasses the preventive assurance of safety and protection against hazards within the Automotive Segment including process ownership of the Product Safety process turtle.
Coordinate with leadership on the Functional Safety Escalation process.
Lead across all functions; Engineering, Purchasing, Operations, Legal, Program Management and Business Development to ensure Functional Safety is adhered to and is part of the culture of the organization.
Stay informed of all ISO 26262 influencers including IEC 61508, MISRA, SPICE, Autosar, etc. and understand the impact to ISO 26262.
Stay informed of Global Safety Standards and provide guidance to the organization of future organizational and processes.
Stay active with any new related safety standards coming through customer specific requirements, IATF, new functional safety standards, FMVSS and regional regulatory requirements.
Process leadership for the CTO organization that would work across all pillars with the goal of increased process improvements.
Benchmark best functional safety and risk mitigation practices within automotive companies as well as aerospace and medical companies, AIAG and other standards organizations.
Assist in customer requested functional safety audits of ASIL D projects as appropriate.
Assisting in all VAVE benchmarking activities ensuring OP and revenue improvement actions and customer interfacing.
Here is some of what you’ll need (required):
A bachelor’s degree, in either: Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Automotive Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or Information Management Systems. Also, a Business or Administrative Management related degree is highly desired.
10 years of working experience in automotive product design & development, in particularly regarding automotive safety related products or similar safety related field.
Experience in the appropriate skills in safety technology
Experience in the Appropriate skills in used technologies (mechanics, electronics, software, & etc.), particularly concerning safety relevant use.
Experience & knowledge of the legal & normative requirements
Lead/certified quality management systems auditor
Quality Systems Auditing (IATF 16949) - Preferred
ISO26262 Auditor, Level 1 certification
