The Vice President of Quality will be based in Farmington Hills, MI but will require 50-60% travel both domestic and international. Reporting directly to the global President of Flex Automotive, the Vice President of Quality will provide effective leadership direction and professional expertise aligning the global quality function to meet customer requirements by instilling an entrepreneurial and pro-active quality mind-set and culture in the entire organization while implementing state-of-the-art methodologies and approaches. This executive will be a strategic business partner to the President and an integral member of the senior leadership team that establishes the strategic goals and objectives on behalf of the global automotive segment.

Here is a glimpse of what you’ll do:
Establishing and fostering a customer focused, performance based corporate quality governance function that continues to build Flex’ reputation for delivering automotive electronics and assemblies at unrivalled quality and competitive cost
Defining and implementing a “Quality First/Zero Defect” strategy and culture with clear accountability and ownership
Upgrade the quality tools, standards and procedures to the “state-of-the-art” level of the automotive industry
Quickly define improvement requirements to drive quality across the company, strongly interacting and collaborating with the operative BUs and functions
Set up corporate wide quality competence and training programs
Develop and disseminate relevant KPIs to be managed and tracked and ensure customer scorecards achieve perfect quality
Push for a continuous improvement and learning culture and guarantee toughness in compliance with quality standards – in the quality but also in operations.
The success of this position will be measured along the standard quality metrics like ppm/cpm, cost of poor quality, customer ratings/scorecards, etc., but also with KPIs related to problem resolution processes as well as respective indicators to systematically cover new product projects (successful PPAP).
Here is some of what you’ll need (required):
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 15+ years of broad-based automotive quality experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
Must have prior experience in Automotive working for an OEM; combination of OEM and Tier 1 experience highly preferred
The VP, Quality must have proven leadership ability with a track record of building highly functioning teams that effectively partner with the other functional areas of the company
The candidate should have multinational or global quality management experience.
Candidates must be organizationally and culturally agile with the ability to work in a large, complex, matrix organization. The Flex structure differs from the traditional pure-automotive Tier I’s in that the company competes in many other segments outside of automotive.
Must have knowledge of vehicle electrical architecture within automotive and within a variety of technology driven product areas

He/she will have the well-developed interpersonal skills necessary to function across all levels of the organization as well as with external entities.
Candidates will have a demonstrated ability to apply an analytical, process-driven approach to include appropriate KPI’s, in order to be proactive in all quality matters globally.
