The Product Engineer will be based in Northfield, MN and will have limited travel (up to 30% at most). This person will be responsible for introducing new flexible circuit applications into the factory in accordance with Multek Flexible Circuits New Product Introduction procedures by coordinating prototype, development and production launch activities. Responsibilities also include working with customers to implement design for manufacturability in order to realize their product designs.

Here is a glimpse of what you’ll do:
Working with customers to implement Design for Manufacturability (DFM) standards.
Working with customers to translate electrical schematics into product designs
Project lead on collaborative efforts with Flex and outside companies
Establishing timing plans and coordinating the fabrication of prototypes, production first article runs, and collaborative efforts.
Collaborating with CAD Technicians to establish layouts and generate necessary fabrication tools and artworks.
Providing fabrication directions to prototype technicians.
Identifying and resolving technical issues that arise in the development phase.
Working with Program Managers and Business Development Managers to estimate and verify factory costs to produce the product.
In the Multek MRP system (Oracle), entering item numbers, bills of material and routings that provide all necessary instructions for mass production.
Partnering with Quality Assurance to verify Multek processes are statistically capable of manufacturing the product with acceptable yield and predictable results, using the standard Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
Up to 30% Travel to customers and vendors
Data Analysis and Report writing.
Here is some of what you’ll need (required):
4 year degree preferred but not required
candidates should have 3-4 years of product engineering related work experience
Knowledge of circuitry; flexible circuitry knowledge a plus
Manufacturing, Electrical Engineering, Circuit Design, Applications Engineering, Prototyping and Project management a strong plus
Knowledge and experience with: QS9000, ISO standards, and APQP
