Career Transition/Outplacement Program

Society of Plastics Engineers, in partnership with MyJobCoach, is pleased to introduce a new program for our members’ companies: cost-effective, career transition/outplacement services. Our association-based program offers an efficient and discreet way to transition employees and provide the full networking resources of the society. Upon enrollment, materials are sent to the individual and contact made to determine specific needs. This program offers customized service with personal follow up and coaching support, ensuring high participation. Online resources and professional services are delivered continuously via remote access, which provides participants maximum flexibility. Follow-up is conducted 30 days after program completion to evaluate and report on service usage and quality.

Providing proactive career support such as the career transition/outplacement program demonstrates your commitment to your remaining employees, increasing morale and retention. It also builds your company’s goodwill in the community and industry, enhancing your ability to rehire or recruit in the future.

Program Description
The Career Transition Program provides immediate and accessible guidance and support necessary to help individuals quickly make career transitions. The online resource offers a comprehensive knowledge base of career information and access to professional services, including resume writing and career coaching. Included resources:

  • AskCoach – Unlimited information on job hunting, resumes, interviewing, salary negotiations, legal issues, networking, and career advancement.

  • Personalized Booklet & Letter - 30-page job transition booklet, personalized for each transitioned individual addressing the most critical aspects of the job search process.

  • Professionally Written Resume – Expert-written resume to effectively position an individual in the competitive job market.

  • Behavioral Style Report – Assessment providing 26-pages of personalized feedback on one’s unique behavioral strengths, work style, and value to an organization’s success.

  • 3 Coaching Sessions – Targeted one-on-one coaching with certified coaches focused on career strategies and planning.

  • Salary Report – Detailed salary analysis to aide in compensation negotiations.

  • JobCoach Live – Streaming videos on offer letters, salary negotiations, and other employment issues starring New York Times best-selling author, Martin Yate.

  • Win-Win Career Negotiations Book – Guide to the initial interview, salary, stock options, bonus, benefits, relocation, severance, annual reviews, and everyday on-the-job negotiations with co-workers.

Support through all Career Stages
The program addresses individuals through each stage of their career journey, from self-assessment through ongoing career development. Online content and services— delivered in a seamless fashion by phone and through web applications, tools, streaming media, chat, and email— are organized according to these stages, to help members navigate the site.
  1. Getting Started – Self-assessment provides an honest and objective evaluation of one’s behavioral style, past work experience, and skills.

  2. Choosing the Right Coach – Coaches provide insight to help individuals understand their value to an organization; define the next steps in their career journey, and how to take action.

  3. Preparing Resumes, Letters, and References – Professional critique and writing services, plus tips to create a compelling individual marketing message.

  4. Finding Job Opportunities – Strategies for interviewing, networking, and identifying job resources.

  5. Negotiating Your Offer, Closing the Deal – Tips for negotiating salary, benefits, relocation, etc.

  6. Planning and Advancing Your Career – Advice for the next phase of one’s career: adjusting to a new job, performance reviews, promotions, balancing work & life, and more.
