Job Description
As a member of the Global Color Technology team, you will lead color technology efforts by developing proprietary solutions for customers resulting in new products, new platform technologies, and productivity. Responsibilities will include establishing colormatching rules for products within the LEXAN* resin family, defining and owning colorants used in our Polycarbonate based resin families, creating color-related innovations, supporting manufacturing translations, and providing color and aesthetics expertise. You will have extensive global interaction with Product Technology, ColorXpress* Services, Manufacturing, Commercial, and Procurement teams.

The site is located in Mt. Vernon, IN - just west of Evansville, IN.

Requirements
Advanced degree in Polymer Science & Engineering, Material Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or other related field.

Demonstrated technical and project leadership abilities in the areas of material science, coloring of plastic, color physics, colorants, and thermoplastic materials; industrial experience/application preferred.

Demonstrated problem solving skills using a process based approach. Certified Six Sigma Green Belt required for internal candidates.

Self-directed with passion for learning – demonstrated ability to seek and find information and/or appropriately leverage resources to learn and successfully work with new concepts, technologies or application spaces.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in a global and remote team environment. Demonstrated ability to lead change. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively using electronic communication tools, collaborative software, and knowledge management tools. Proven record of documenting and publishing work.

Demonstrated ability to prioritize and successfully manage multiple, complex deliverables that require effective teamwork & communications with stakeholders such as customers, sales/marketing, procurement, and manufacturing/supply chain partners.

Demonstrated ability to gauge and apply an appropriate sense of urgency when responding to ad-hoc requests with examples of ensuring communication channels maintained when conflicts are present.

Able to work flexible hours (when needed) to accommodate global project team needs.

Desired Skills: Strong knowledge of color theory and measurement, with demonstrated ability to apply this knowledge to real applications.

In-depth knowledge of Polycarbonate based systems and a proven track record of applying that knowledge in industrial applications.

In-depth knowledge of compounding, injection molding and extrusion processes.

Six Sigma Black Belt Certification, strong knowledge and successful application of LEAN Six Sigma and Design for Six Sigma principles.

Minimum 3 yrs relevant industrial experience in the area of engineering thermoplastics product development and/or coloration of engineering thermoplastics, with emphasis on color, aesthetics, and property retention.
