Job Description
JOB SUMMARY

Disassemble, clean, repair, perform necessary maintenance and reassemble molds. Also disassemble and repair production equipment and recommend design changes. Fabricate components for molds and assembly equipment to print specification and dimensions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to: 1. Mold repair, disassemble molds without damage to components. 2. Clean mold plates and all components. 3. Polish cavities and cores as required. 4. Fabricate simple mold components or make simple repairs on machine tools as directed. 5. Assemble molds and components maintaining proper dimensional tolerances. 6. Must be able to trouble shoot and analyze problems with molds. 7. Reads and understands blueprints, sketches, and schematics, relating to tool room practices. 8. Plans and lays out work from oral or written specifications, using the necessary hand and machine tools, instruments and related equipment. 9. Makes necessary shop computations using metric, decimal, and fractional measures of length. 10. Has a complete knowledge of welding and tool room equipment and be capable of operating machines within the prescribed tolerance and allowances. 11. Organizes work flow when mass producing new or replacement parts for manufacturing equipment. 12. Works efficiently and cooperates with supervision and other fellow employees. 13. Maintains a reasonably clean work area and reports safety hazards to Supervision. 14. Performs any miscellaneous duties that might be assigned by Supervision.


Requirements
Qualifications EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED 1. Education Requires a two-year degree from a Technical School in Mold Making, Mold Repair, or Machine Tool and Die. Math skills needed: Competency in all basic math and working knowledge of higher math (including trig, algebra, and geometry). Knowledge of decimal system. Must be able to interpret readings from indicators, micrometers and assorted gauges. 2. Experience One to two years of experience as mold repairman/Tool and Die. 3. Physical Requirements Heavy work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. 4. Mental Requirements Must be able to read, write and understand English. Must be able to read and understand blueprints, drawings, sketches, etc. 5. Equipment Use Ability to operate all Tool Room equipment from small hand tools to large machines. Must be a licensed forklift operator.
