Job Summary Design, build & test subsystems for spacecraft simulators and unmanned air vehicles. Design and assist testing of control or estimation algorithms on these platforms.
Job Duties - Analyze, design, build and test spacecraft and drone testbeds - Design, prototype and manufacture mechanical & electronics subsystems for the spacecraft and drone testbeds - Validate intermediate results through analysis and experimentation - Design and modify experimental techniques and procedures; carry out research to develop alternative options - Implement algorithms in C++/PythoN - Conduct literature research; write research reports and journal articles; present research work at seminars and participate in team discussions - Serve as collaborator to graduate and undergraduate students - Other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications - BS and MS degree in Computer Science, Electrical, Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering - Electronics & PCB design skills - Electronics testing & troubleshooting skills - Experience with embedded C & Python coding - Proficiency in CAD (Solidworks) design - Experience with rapid prototyping (3d printing) & designing for manufacturing (CNC) - Strong communication skills & team work - High independence and initiative
Preferred Qualifications - Experience using Vicon or similar motion capture system - Experience with ROS (Robot Operating System) - Familiar with embedded Linux for robotics applications - Good background in control systems - Experience developing algorithms in Matlab - Familiar with systems modelling & simulation - Familiar with TDD (Test driven development) practices - Familiar with Version Control Management Software (git, mercurial, ) - Experience in designing & manufacturing composite structures - Familiar writing technical documentation in LaTex
