Where the Chemistry Happens...
We are seeking an EHS (Environmental, Health and Safety) Process Safety Specialist to become a member of our Central Hub EHS team. The position is based in Palmyra, MO (also referred to as the Hannibal, MO site), and reports to the Central Hub Team Leader located in Palmyra.
Under the hub structure, you will have indirect interaction with other sites in the Central Hub, a group of sites supported under the BASF shared services platform. You will also interact with EHS experts and professionals who support all of the BASF North American sites and businesses. In this shared services structure, you may also provide assistance at other BASF sites as the need arises.
BASF's site in Palmyra is located on the Mississippi River. The site is a leading producer of agricultural chemicals for our Agricultural Solutions business, and is experiencing dynamic growth. The site is located on 1600 acres and employs approximately 330 people including contractors. The extensive regulatory requirements create a challenge to achieve, maintain and enhance world class EHS performance.
EHS Process Safety Specialist – Palmyra, MO
The person selected to fill this position will be the primary resource for technical and regulatory matters related to process safety at the Palmyra site.
Formula for Success: You Will...
Ensure incorporation of BASF Process Safety philosophies during the safety reviews for new processes and process modifications, as well as incident investigations and management of change reviews.
Deliver regulatory and technical Process Safety expertise through participation in process hazard analyses and other risk management activities
Provide strategic direction of Process Safety issues to site and unit leaders. Coordinate with the BASF subject matter experts on development of processes and initiatives to ensure continuous improvement in Process Safety.
Interface with regulatory agencies and third parties, as needed, on compliance and enforcement issues.
Develop and deliver PS training/education resources to site personnel, as needed.
Serve as an EHS point of contact for assigned operations units at the Hannibal site.
Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You...
BS degree, preferably in engineering, technical or science area. Candidates with other BS degrees will also be considered, if combined with excellent relevant experience and skills
At least 5 years of Process Safety experience, either as an EHS professional or in a role requiring detailed knowledge of Process Safety regulatory and technical requirements.
Demonstrated experience with process hazard analysis techniques with an emphasis on Hazard Operability or FMEA analyses.
Experience with conducting incident investigations pertaining to Process Safety incidents.
