The role involves technology innovations for both product development and improvement. The incumbent will use his or her knowledge and experience in polymer science and processing to design and prototype new cellulosed based products as well as to improve current products. Candidate will be part of a team working on early stage platform technology for use in current and new products aimed at providing market differentiation. Technology arenas will span from uniquely engineered fibers to organic and inorganic materials for use in current and new products. Applicant must be an innovative, highly capable scientist/engineer, with the ability to fulfill the following accountabilities:
Conduct all activities with a focus on maintaining and improving a safe work environment.
Design and prototype cellulose based new products for specified applications.
Produce prototypes at lab scale and work with Technology Transfer groups and Manufacturing to scale up concepts to commercial scale.
Develop new designs incorporating the use of materials from renewable resources, creating environmentally advantaged products
Contribute to technology development in support of new business related to packaging, nanocellulose, and fiber
Apply technology platforms from other industries and disciplines to product and process technical challenges
Develop new technologies to improve qualities of current products and reduce their costs.
Keep up to date with developments in the field and identify opportunities for new technologies development.
Education and Skills Requirements:
Advanced degree in Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or Chemical Engineering.
Candidate should have demonstrated past innovative accomplishments.
Must be able to work in a cross-functional atmosphere to provide support and technical leadership for strategic projects.
Demonstrated ability to learn new areas of technology so as to contribute to successful completion of projects.
Prior knowledge and experience with cellulose and cellulose based materials is preferred.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize development work and assess feasibility.
Knowledge and use of statistical computer tools such as Minitab, Statistica, Design Expert and Excel functions desired.
Must have authorization to permanently work in the US.
